Why We Chose “The New Red Scare?” – لماذا اخترنا ان “الخوف الأحمر الجديد؟”

It did not take much time in our research for us to start noticing that much of what we were reading about: ignorance and hate and fear of the Muslim religion sounded very familiar. But, we couldn’t quite put our finger on it.  Then we started to read about the current Peter King hearings and started to think, “Man, this sounds a whole lot like the McCarthy hearings.” It occurred to us that the current climate of Muslim perception has the same fears, and wide spread misinformation as the Red Scare. The similarities are obvious: political leaders are already aligning themselves with the issue of Muslim terror in order to produce fear, which aids for re-election campaigns. the first Red Scare dealt with Russians, and was taken too far when McCarthy began making up names, and accusing anyone who crossed him of being a communist. People are much more willing to stand up to Peter King than they were to stand up to McCarthy; however if he had his way it would be the end of liberty and freedom to all Muslim Americans. He has been cited as saying that political correctness is blinding us to what is happening with Muslims in the U.S.; however, critics say it is his distaste for Muslims that is blinding him to the homegrown terrorists we have here in the US.
